Welcome

Thorn Park Tennis Club was founded in 1925 and has served our local community in Bearsden for almost 100 years. You’re welcome to play here with us all year round.

One of our key goals as a club is to continue being a friendly and welcoming place in which to enjoy your tennis. Situated down a lane off Thorn Road, this part of Bearsden is considered a quiet, leafy suburban area. We have been one of the foremost clubs for developing junior players in Scotland for a long time now. We love what we do here!

Having a great range of tennis and social events on throughout the year helps us offer the variety that people look for when choosing a club to join. Training camps, social doubles, ladies mornings and hosting local tournaments feature regularly on our schedule. Not to mention our annual Open Day and BBQ in the summer which is always well attended and helps us grow our tennis community.

As an LTA registered venue, our club receives an allocation of pairs of Wimbledon tickets. If you’re a member of the club then you are eligible to enter the ballot each year and, with a bit of luck, you may find yourself heading on a trip to this superb Grand Slam event.

All Weather Courts

Newly laid in 2019, our artificial clay courts have all weather playability and long term durability.  Four of our courts have floodlights that extend our opening hours during Winter and Spring when light is limited in the evenings. They are open to non members if accompanied by an existing member but there is a small surcharge of £5 per non-member payable in the clubhouse. Please use the provided brush after play to sweep them clean so that they are ready for the players after you.

Changing Facilities

We have changing rooms for both men and women so if you’re arriving at the club straight from work or welcoming a visiting team for a match then we’ve got you covered. They are spacious and clean with additional toilet facilities. A quick change and you’re on the court in no time.

Clubhouse

The clubhouse has recently been redecorated and is light and airy. It has a kitchen and social area in the conservatory which offers the chance to catch up with other members and shelter in case of any inclement weather. When the sun shines, our decking area comes into its own with views over the courts. We have a TV and table tennis table for the kids which proves to be very popular if they have to wait to get onto a court for the real thing!

Club Testimonials

Rather than blow our own trumpets, we decided to ask our members to see what they thought of the club. Here are a few of the responses we received.
